CAA-Quebec’s worst roads campaign marks 10 years of advocacy

A decade after launching its first worst roads campaign, CAA-Quebec is once again calling on the public to help highlight the province’s most dangerous and poorly maintained roads.

Quebecers have been given the chance to voice their concerns before the April 23 deadline.

CAA-Quebec is inviting drivers and pedestrians from across the province to report roads suffering from poor signage, neglected maintenance, and unsafe conditions.

This annual initiative continues to push for better road infrastructure and hold local municipalities and the Ministry of Transport accountable for repairs and upgrades.

“Quebecers deserve a safe, high-quality road network,” said Nicolas Ryan, director of public affairs at CAA-Quebec.

The latest budget reveals that Quebec’s roads face the largest maintenance deficit of any public infrastructure, accounting for over half of the total $22.5 billion gap. Nearly half of the province’s road pavements and structures are in poor or very poor condition, underscoring the urgent need for improvements.

CAA-Quebec says their campaign has led to tangible results, with roads like Chemin Klock in Gatineau and Boulevard Gouin in Montreal receiving significant investment and repairs over the years.

“Every year, our campaign brings citizens’ voices to the forefront, highlighting the worst roads in the province,” said Ryan.
