The City of Montreal is investing once again in its Blue and Green Patrols, grassroots initiatives aimed at educating residents about key environmental issues and supporting the city’s 2030 ecological transition goals.
The Blue Patrol, active from April 28 to May 23, will focus on promoting responsible water use. Made up of youth teams—will visit neighborhoods, childcare centers, and boroughs to offer practical advice on water conservation, distribute low-flow showerheads, and share information on proper waste disposal in household plumbing systems.
The Green Patrol, supported by $65,750 in city funding, will tackle broader environmental topics including waste management, urban forestry, climate adaptation, and sustainable habits. The team will encourage zero-waste practices, promote green spaces, and offer residents tools to reduce their environmental impact.
In 2024, the patrols reached over 200,000 Montrealers. This year, the City aims to build on that momentum.
“These patrols are complementary initiatives to the broader efforts we’re making to achieve ecological transition in Montreal,” said Maja Vodanovic, executive committee member responsible for water. “Together, we can do our part to leave behind a greener environment”
