A vehicle parked outside a hotel in Montreal’s Saint-Leonard borough is a total loss after being target of an arson overnight.

Around 2:15 a.m., Montreal police (SPVM) officers were on patrol and noticed a burning vehicle in the outdoor parking lot of a hotel on Jarry Street near Lacordaire Blvd.

“When police arrived on the scene they found that a vehicle was on fire while the Montreal fire department was on its way,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a SPVM spokesperson. “Some incendiary material was found at the scene.”

There is no damage to the property, but the SPVM added that the vehicle is a total loss.

No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made so far.

The file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad, an investigation is ongoing.
