Man fatally struck on highway in Montreal’s South Shore

A man was fatally struck late Wednesday night on a major highway on Montreal’s South Shore.

Emergency services were called around 11:15 p.m. to the scene on Route-132 West in Longueuil for a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the victim was on the highway in traffic before being struck by the vehicle. The man’s identity and age have not been released.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the vehicle, in his 20s, was taken to the hospital to be treated for nervous shock.

Before the man was fatally struck, he allegedly vandalized a car and was fleeing the scene. Police were reportedly not pursuing him.

The SQ’s collision experts were dispatched to the scene to attempt to determine the circumstances and cause of the fatal accident.
