41-year-old man dies after stabbing in Montreal North

A 41-year-old man died after being stabbed on Monday morning in the Montreal North borough.

Montreal Police (SPVM) say they received a 911 call around 5 a.m. about the incident near the intersection of Charleroi Street and Lacordaire Blvd.

“When officers arrived on the scene they located a victim, a man in his 40s,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils. “He was unconscious and he was injured to the upper body with a sharp object.”

He was then taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died of his injuries.

“On the scene, police officers also arrested a suspect, a man of 40 years old,” explained Chèvrefils.

The suspect was transported to an investigation center where he will be met by investigators in the coming hours.

“Circumstances surrounding this armed assault are currently unknown,” added Chèvrefils.

The SPVM’s Major Crimes unit is investigating.

This is the 17th murder to occur on Montreal police territory this tear.
