Montreal is facing another special weather statement in less than a week, but instead of it being for the heat it’s now for heavy rain coming in this weekend.
Wet weather and thunderstorms are expected with total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 millimetres for areas of Southern and Central Quebec on Friday evening to Sunday morning, and areas of Western Quebec on Friday afternoon to overnight Saturday.
“Additional rainfall produced by thunderstorms may lead to total rainfall amounts exceeding 50 millimetres locally,” said Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
“A weather system will move across Southern Quebec this weekend,” they added. “This system could produce significant rainfall amounts from Friday to Sunday.”
The special weather statement is issued for the following regions:

- Eastern Townships
- Bois-Francs
- Lanaudière
- Laurentians
- Outaouais
- Témiscamingue
“The heaviest precipitation is expected from Friday evening to Saturday evening,” explained ECCC. “Water may accumulate in some areas. Some rivers may see an increased flow and higher water levels.”
