By News Staff

Montreal is under a special weather statement for rain and thunderstorms expected this weekend.

The total rainfall amounts forecasted are 25 to 50 millimetres for areas of Southern and Central Quebec on Friday evening to Sunday morning, and areas of Western Quebec on Friday afternoon to overnight Saturday.

“Additional rainfall produced by thunderstorms may lead to total rainfall amounts exceeding 50 millimetres locally,” said Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

“A weather system will move across Southern Quebec this weekend,” they added. “This system could produce significant rainfall amounts from Friday to Sunday.”
