A 26-year-old man was stabbed overnight in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough.

Police (SPVM) received a 911 call at around 3:20 a.m. about a person injured with a sharp object near Saint-Laurent Blvd. and Sainte-Catherine Street.

“When the police arrived on the scene they located the victim,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils. “He was conscious and he was injured to the upper body with a sharp object.”

The victim was then taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the SPVM.

“We don’t fear for his life,” said Chèvrefils.

Two suspects, men aged 24 and 26, were later located and arrested in a vehicle on Parc Avenue, near Fairmount Avenue West.

The two suspects were taken to the investigation center to be interviewed by investigators in the coming hours.

“The circumstances surrounding this armed assault are currently unknown,” said Chèvrefils.

Adding that a perimeter has been set up to protect the scene for investigators and that there’s a street closure of Saint-Laurent Blvd. in the northbound direction.
