Multi-day heat warning ends for Montreal

By News Staff

The multi-day heat warning that affected Montreal has officially come to an end on Thursday, and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting a beautiful end to the week.

The warning that began gripping the city on Sunday resulted with three heat-related deaths reported to Montreal’s public health department.

Now as temperatures are easing, a mix of sun and cloud is expected today with a daytime high of 28°C — but feeling more like 33°C with the humidex.

Come Friday, the weather agency is forecasting that the end of the week will be filled with more sunshine, and it should feel like 29°C with the humidity.

Sunny on Saturday as well, a high of 32°C. Increase of cloudiness at night with a low of 22°C.

Come Sunday though, those clouds are expected to rain and a 60 per cent chance of rain is in the forecast for now. This potential wet weather mixed with a daytime high of 25°C.

“It’s going to feel much cooler and not quite as muggy over the next couple of days,” said Steven Flisfeder, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada. “Once we get to Sunday, we’re expecting another cold front to sweep through, so that will usher in another chance of showers or thunderstorms, bringing some much needed rain to the area and again, dropping temperatures thereafter.”

The start of next week then should be met with sunny skies and 24°C.
