Human head found on banks of Rivière des Prairies in Montreal North

The human head of a man was reportedly recovered Sunday afternoon from the banks of the Rivière des Prairies in Montreal North.

Montreal Police (SPVM), however, did not confirm which body part it was. They did, however, say it was the upper part of the body.

According to SPVM spokesperson Annie-Claude Racine, emergency services were called to the scene around 3 p.m. regarding an inert human body part found along the Rivière des Prairies, not far from the intersection of Albert Brosseau Blvd. and Drapeau Avenue.

Police say they cannot confirm the man’s identity, nor the cause of the death. They do no yet know if it’s criminal, suicidal or accidental.

A perimeter has been set up to allow police officers to conduct various investigative steps to determine the circumstances of the incident.

“There is a command post on site, and given the unique nature of the incident, a team of SPVM investigators has been deployed,” said Racine.
