Northvolt battery plant land value jumps 30% in Quebec

The land that had to house the proposed Northvolt electric vehicle battery plant in Quebec’s Montérégie has reportedly increased by 31 per cent to $315 million.

According to La Presse, this is the latest valuation by the real estate firm CBRE in July, meaning that the South Shore site rose by $75 million.

Last week, the Quebec government decided to pull its funding from Northvolt.

The Swedish company’s North American subsidiary owes Quebec $260 million.
