Health Minister Christian Dubé has pledged not to study Bill 106 during the mediation process with physicians.
Last week, Dubé and Treasury Board President France-Élaine Duranceau reached out to the two medical federations to encourage them to agree to a mediation process.
It should be noted that the government is engaged in a major standoff with physicians. Bill 106 aims, among other things, to link part of their compensation to performance indicators.
The Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ) agreed to mediation on Tuesday. However, it is continuing its boycott of teaching.
The Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ), for its part, indicated Monday that it “accepts the principle of mediation regarding the renewal of the framework agreement” and that it has submitted to the government “a formal counterproposal to clearly define the process and its objectives.”
The federation also agreed to postpone the education boycott, initially planned for Oct. 1, to Oct. 4.
