Police investigate shots fired on Montreal street

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after gunshots were fired on Thursday afternoon in Montreal’s Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough.
At around 4:05 p.m., SPVM received a call to 911 reporting possible detonations on 8th Ave. near the intersection of Deville Street.
Police say upon arrival they did not locate any injuries or shooters, but several shell casings were found at the scene.
According to initial information, shots were exchanged between several individuals, and vehicles were seen quickly fleeing the scene.
A security perimeter was set up to preserve the scene and allow SPVM investigators to shed light on the exact circumstances of the event.
Police say they questioned potential witnesses.
No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing.
