Pedestrian fatally struck by alleged drunk driver in Montreal

A 69-year-old man died early Friday morning after being struck by a driver who was allegedly impaired.

It happened in Montreal around 3:40 a.m., in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Décarie Blvd. and Plamondon Ave., where the victim was found lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old woman, was heading south on Décarie Blvd. at the time of the incident.

Montreal Police (SPVM) arrested her for impaired driving.

SPVM investigators established a security perimeter at the scene to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Décarie Blvd. is closed between Plamondon and Van Horne Ave. amid the investigation.
