Doctors’ law has CAQ MNA reflecting on political future

By Thomas Laberge, The Canadian Press

Just a few days after the dramatic departure of Minister Lionel Carmant, CAQ MNA for Laporte, Isabelle Poulet, is reflecting on her political future due to the special law concerning doctors.

“This was the straw that broke the camel’s back,” said a source close to the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Isabelle Poulet was scheduled to meet with the parliamentary press on Tuesday morning to make “a statement regarding her political future.” The press conference was ultimately canceled at the last minute.

According to the source, Poulet is expected to meet with Premier François Legault in the afternoon, as reported to The Canadian Press.

It is not ruled out that she could make a public statement later on Tuesday.

Health Minister Christian Dubé’s controversial Bill 2, passed under closure just over a week ago, has sparked anger among Quebec’s doctors. The government notably wants to review their payment model.
