Man facing charges after allegedly assaulting woman on Montreal metro

Montreal police say a 40-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly hitting a woman in a metro car.

SVPM says the alleged incident happened around 2:55 p.m. on Oct. 22.

Reports indicate a woman was seated in a metro car when she was approached by a man. A short verbal exchange occurred before the man allegedly assaulted the woman.

The woman reported the incident to STM, who then contacted police.

Over the course of an investigation, police were able to identify the man, and on Nov. 5, they took him into custody.

The 40-year-old has since been released with conditions and is expected to appear in court in Montreal on Jan. 29, 2026.
