Montreal weekend weather: Rain, 5-10 cms of snow possible, and chilly taste of winter ahead

By News Staff

Montrealers are in for a wet and windy weekend, with a first taste of winter in the forecast.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Montreal Island area, warning of the first snowfall over southern and central Quebec. “Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 centimetres are expected beginning at noon Sunday and continuing through Monday. Depending on the path of the system, some areas, particularly along the river, could see a change to rain or a mix of rain and snow.”

“The precipitation could make roads snowy and slippery, creating difficult travel conditions, especially during Monday morning’s rush hour,” adds the weather agency.

Residents are urged to monitor updates from Environment Canada.

Saturday will be mainly cloudy, with gusty winds and a 40 per cent chance of morning showers. Temperatures could reach 6°C during the day and fall to -1°C at night.

Sunday brings rain or snow with a high near 2°C.

Monday is expected to remain cloudy, with a daytime high of 1°C and a low of -5°C overnight.

Tuesday will offer a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 0°C, with flurries possible after sunset.

Wednesday brings a chance of showers during the day, followed by rain or flurries overnight.
