Montrealers experienced it’s first snowstorm of the season, with more snow and a hint of sunshine expected this week.
Today, expect flurries with snowfall accumulation of 2 to 4 cm. Temperatures will remain steady near -2°C, with a wind chill making it feel closer to -9°C. Tonight, skies will be mainly cloudy. Temperatures will stay near -1°C, with a wind chill of -7°C this evening.
“As of today, at Montreal Trudeau Airport about 9 cm of snow has accumulated and in downtown Montreal about 20 cm of snow,” said Julien Pellerin, Meteorologist for Environment and Climate Change Canada.
“The first snowfall came a lot earlier this year than it did last year,” said Julien Pellerin, Meteorologist for Environment and Climate Change Canada. “It’s early in the season, but it’s not exceptional.”

Pellerin says that Montreal hasn’t seen its first 15 cm snowfall this early in the year since Nov. 17, 2002. He added that Montreal usually receives its first 15 cm of snow in December or January.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries in the morning, transitioning to a 60 per cent chance of rain showers late in the morning. Winds will pick up in the morning, with a high of 2°C. Nighttime will bring periods of snow or rain with a low of 1°C.

Thursday will see periods of rain with a high of 3°C, followed by a cloudy night with a low of -1°C. Friday and Saturday will bring sunnier skies, with highs of 4°C and 2°C, respectively, and lows dropping to -5°C Friday night and -1°C Saturday night.
Sunday will be unsettled, with snow or rain during the day (high 4°C) and periods of rain overnight, with a low around 0°C.
It’s too early to tell what this year’s winter has in store, but Environment Canada confirms that no other snowstorm is expected this week.
