31st murder in Montreal: no crime scene, no motive, no arrests

A 35-year-old man who was shot in early October in Montreal died in hospital nearly two months later, becoming the city’s 31st homicide victim of the year.

In the early hours of Oct. 9, the man arrived on his own at the Montreal General Hospital seeking treatment after being shot in the abdomen just minutes before.

After spending weeks in critical condition, he died of his injuries on Nov. 21, six weeks after the incident.

For reasons that remain unclear, Montreal police waited 10 days before announcing his death.

Nearly two months after the shooting, investigators still have no information on where the attack took place, nor do they know the motive. No arrests have been made.

The case is now in the hands of the Montreal police major crimes division.
