Body found under balcony following fire in Longueuil

A body was discovered under a balcony following a fire in Longueuil, in the Montérégie region, late Saturday night.
“Shortly before 11 p.m., the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) was called to assist the Service de sécurité incendie de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SSIAL) with a fire under the balcony of an abandoned building located on Saint-Charles Street West in Longueuil,” explained Const. Jacqueline Pierre, spokesperson for the SPAL.
“Upon arrival, SSIAL members found an unresponsive body.”
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and their identity remains unknown.
“The cause and circumstances surrounding this event remain unknown at this time, as the investigation is just beginning,” said Pierre. “Saint-Charles Street West was closed to traffic between Saint-Jean Street and Saint-Sylvestre Street for the duration of the investigation.”
