Two businesses in Montreal’s LaSalle borough were targeted by gunfire overnight Sunday to Monday. One person was present, but was not injured.
According to the Montreal Police (SPVM), witnesses reported hearing explosions around 12:10 a.m. on Dollard Ave., near Lithuania Street.
Once on the scene, the police officers noted that two businesses had received “several projectile impacts in their respective front windows”.
“Despite the presence of a person on the scene during the event, no injuries were reported,” noted officer Johany Charland, who is a spokesperson for the SPVM.
The suspect(s) fled the scene before the police arrived.
Bullet impacts on the glass windows and doors of a lounge and a barbershop were visible on Monday morning.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians were called to the scene to try to understand the causes and circumstances of this event.
As of early Monday, no arrests had been made in the case.
Last week, another bar in LaSalle was hit by gunfire.
It happened around 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the establishment on Thierry Street, near Newman Blvd. – about 1.5 kilometers from Monday’s incident location.
When officers arrived, no victims or suspects were on the scene, but investigators found multiple bullet impacts on the building’s windows, as well as shell casings on the ground. The bar was closed at the time.
The investigation into both these cases is ongoing.
