A seven-year-old girl was injured after being struck by a school bus in the Fabreville district of Laval late Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the collision occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Raphaël and Siméon streets.
Upon arrival at the scene, patrol officers found a seven-year-old girl who had apparently been hit by the vehicle, explained Laurent Arsenault, spokesperson for the Laval Police Service.
The child was taken to Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal for treatment and was conscious during transport, according to authorities.
By Tuesday morning, police confirmed the girl was in stable condition.
The bus driver continued on his route following the impact and was located less than an hour later on Montreal’s North Shore.
He was interviewed by police in the evening and investigators believe the bus driver may not have been aware that he struck the child.
Officials say the bus driver has not been arrested, an investigation will determine if it was a hit-and-run.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
The incident comes one month after a 13-year-old girl was fatally struck by a school bus while getting off the vehicle in Laval’s Champfleury area.
