92-year-old woman dies after being struck by pickup truck in Verdun

A 92-year-old woman died after being struck by a pickup truck Thursday afternoon in the Verdun borough, according to Montreal police (SPVM).

SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said that a 911 call was received around 2 p.m. reporting a collision on Gilberte-Dubé Street near Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard.

Authorities confirmed that the woman died of her injuries in hospital Friday morning.

According to witnesses on the scene, a pickup truck heading south on Gilberte-Dubé Street hit the woman, SPVM said.

Police said the driver was a 42-year-old man. “Speed and alcohol were not a cause,” Brabant said.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.
