Snowy start to Christmas in Montreal, with biting cold to follow

A wintry mix is shaping Christmas Eve and Christmas Day across Montreal, with quieter but chilly weather to follow later in the week.

Christmas Eve will start with periods of light snow ending in the morning, followed by a mix of sun and cloud.

The high will reach minus -1 Celsius, with a wind chill of minus -13 C in the morning and minus -3 C in the afternoon.

Wednesday night, skies will remain cloudy as snow begins overnight. About five centimetres is expected.

The low will be minus -8 C, with wind chills near minus -9 C this evening and minus -15 C overnight.

Christmas Day will see snow ending in the morning, then clearing skies. The high will be minus -5 C, with a wind chill near minus -15 C.

The night will be clear and cold, with a low of minus -18 C.

Looking ahead, Friday brings increasing cloudiness and a high of minus -12 C, with a chance of flurries overnight.

Saturday will clear with a high of minus -9 C and Sunday looks sunny and slightly milder, with a high of minus -7 C, before snow returns Sunday night.
