Operation Red Nose offers safe rides on New Year’s Eve as campaign wraps up

Operation Red Nose is on the road today, offering safe rides to help people get home safely on New Year’s Eve as its 42nd holiday campaign comes to an end.

The service has been running since late November and remains available tonight in more than 60 communities across Canada, including over 40 locations in Quebec. Thousands of volunteers are taking part, helping reduce the risk of impaired driving during one of the busiest nights of the year.

Backed by long-time partners Desjardins and the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, the campaign encourages people celebrating the arrival of the New Year to plan a safe way home. This year’s theme, “a well-tuned return,” focuses on making responsible choices after festive gatherings.

Operation Red Nose is also reminding the public that volunteering remains a key part of the initiative, with opportunities both on the road and at dispatch centres.

Organizers say using the service or supporting it in any way helps make Quebec’s roads safer as 2025 comes to a close.
