The month-long overtime strike by STM maintenance workers is set to end Sunday without a deal.
The job action, which began Dec. 11, limited overtime work and raised concerns about major service disruptions.
The STM says the worst-case scenario never materialized. At the height of the strike this week, the transit agency says it was short about 60 buses, far fewer than the more than 250 it had initially warned could be affected.
Both the union and the STM confirmed the overtime strike will end as planned Sunday, but there is still no negotiated agreement.
The STM said it remained committed to reaching a deal, pointing to recent contracts signed with drivers, metro operators and professional staff.
“The STM’s negotiating team has remained available, including during the holiday season, to resume discussions with the maintenance union. To date, no new meeting date has been agreed upon,” the transit agency said in an email to CityNews.
The union, meanwhile, says talks have stalled and warns further pressure tactics could follow if negotiations don’t resume.
