Overnight closures on Highway 40, Île-aux-Tourtes bridge this weekend

Quebec’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility says overnight closures are planned this weekend on Highway 40 (Félix-Leclerc) and the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge for roadwork.

The ministry says the closures are needed to complete the installation of thermoplastic lane markings, refresh road markings in both directions and carry out repairs to the eastbound lanes.

A complete closure of Highway 40 westbound, between Exit 41 in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, including Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants and Île Perrot, and the next entrance, will be in effect from Friday, 10 p.m. until Saturday, 5 a.m.

Traffic will be diverted to the service road, while the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will remain open.

A second closure is scheduled from Sunday, 10 p.m. until Monday, 5 a.m., when Highway 40 eastbound will be completely closed, including the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge.

The affected stretch runs between Exit 35 in Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac and Vaudreuil-Dorion, near St-Charles Avenue, and the entrance from Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants.

During that closure, the toll on Highway 30 eastbound will be suspended and traffic will be redirected toward Highway 20.

To manage traffic and ensure driver safety, three lanes toward Montreal and two toward Vaudreuil will remain open on Highway 40 and the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge throughout the day. A weekend configuration will take effect Saturday morning, with two lanes toward Montreal and three toward Vaudreuil.

The ministry is advising motorists to consult Québec 511 before travelling.
