Montrealers looking for a unique evening can now immerse themselves in a fusion of art, storytelling and fine cuisine at a new interactive dinner show, 7 Paintings – The Art of Dining.
The experience invites guests to explore the works of great artists while enjoying a curated seven-course menu.
“It was a wow experience,” said Jonathan Boisvert, a guest at the dinner on Thursday. “It exactly meets what we want to have as a reaction,” he added.

An evening of art, stories and interactive fun
The two-and-a-half-hour experience allows up to 32 guests per night to engage with art in creative ways. Each course is inspired by a famous artist or one of their works, including Picasso, Michelangelo and Banksy.
“It’s exciting, it’s fun, some people bring their kids, some people do it for a date night, for a special occasion, for private groups,” said Jawad Akil, director of operations at the Hyatt Centric Montreal. “It’s really a huge success so far.”
“What is surprising to me is how interactive everything has been,” said Boisvert’s sister Rosaline. “Without spoiling anything – of course – we use objects on the table to interact with our food. And it’s really, like, fun to see how everything comes together.”
“Cooking is also art. So expressing those two together makes really something interesting,” Boisvert added.
Guests are encouraged not only to taste the dishes, but to paint, listen to short stories or solve riddles related to each piece of art. The result is a multi-sensory experience combining colour, music, emotion and interaction.
A menu inspired by the masters
The culinary journey features dishes such as veal carpaccio in a herb-lime crust with truffle mayonnaise, sakura cress and toasted olive bread; walleye fillet with cinnamon and lavender, lemon-celery salad and aromatic garlic-red wine essence; and a colourful vegetable painting with spinach-coconut, beetroot and pumpkin purée.
Grilled beef tenderloin with carrot purée, roasted asparagus and balsamic jus is also featured, along with a chocolate painting on coconut meringue with chocolate-chili sauce, white chocolate with lime and raspberry sauce.
“We have some vegetarian options, we have some gluten free options, we have a whole bunch of options that we can accommodate prior to the guests arriving,” said Akil.

Tickets are $149 per person plus taxes, and reservations are recommended due to limited seating.
The Art of Dining runs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Centric Montreal – Horizon Rooftop – until April 30.
