Downtown Montreal bar targeted again in suspected arson

A bar in downtown Montreal was targeted in a suspected arson attack early Tuesday morning.

Montreal police say a 911 call was received around 3:15 a.m. for a fire at a business on Crescent Street near Sainte-Catherine Street.

Witnesses reported seeing more than one suspect break a window before setting the fire and fleeing the scene.

The fire was brought under control by the building’s sprinkler system before firefighters arrived.

Police say incendiary materials were found at the scene and note the business has been the target of similar criminal acts in the past.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM arson unit.
