Slippery road conditions made Wednesday morning’s rush hour particularly difficult.
Several accidents were reported across the Greater Montreal Area.
Slow downs were caused on the 20 Eastbound due to accidents. A vehicle hit a lamp post blocking part of the highway and causing the closure of the Cartier exit.
That led to increased pressure and congestion on Highway 40 Eastbound.
On the South Shore, there were many vehicles in the ditch causing difficulties across the network, particularly on Highway 30.
In Lasalle, a major power outage was caused after a vehicle took out a hydro poll. Some 3,000 residents were affected.
The REM was also reporting a brief slowdown on Wednesday morning. The Édouard-Montpetit station was closed due to a problem with the elevators. Two trains were stopped “for a period of time,” causing a delay.
The elevators were fixed and Édouard-Montpetit station has since reopened.
“We confirm that normal service has resumed across the entire network,” a REM spokesperson said in an email.
