Second night marked by armed assault in Montreal.
This time, a 45-year-old man was wounded by a sharp object in the upper body.
A 911 call at around 3:40 a.m. on Sunday led police to the scene of the attack, near the intersection of Crescent Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard in the Ville-Marie borough.
“According to initial information, a conflict escalated between the victim and the suspect, and that is when the victim was wounded with a sharp object,” explained Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
The victim was taken to the hospital, but his life is not in danger.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
“Following the armed assault, the suspect fled before the police arrived. Checks will be made on possible surveillance cameras located near the scene. At least one witness to the event has been interviewed,” said Chèvrefils.
The SPVM investigation is ongoing.
