By The Canadian Press

Two people were reportedly injured in an explosion Wednesday evening in Kanesatake, in the Laurentians. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) indicates, however, that their injuries are not life-threatening.

According to SQ spokesperson Marythé Bolduc, emergency services were called to intervene around 6 p.m. on Rang Sainte-Philomène for a building fire, which, according to preliminary information, was caused by an explosion.

The two injured people were then transported to a hospital.

Bolduc indicates that the road was closed to allow the fire department to intervene.
