A bar in Montreal’s Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough sustained significant damage after a suspected arson early Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to the commercial establishment near Papineau Avenue and St-Zotique Street around 6:05 a.m. When Montreal police (SPVM) arrived on the scene, the fire was in progress.
Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control. No injuries were reported, but the building suffered extensive damage.
Incendiary elements were found at the scene and the case was transferred to the SPVM arson unit.
A security perimeter was established in the area, and investigators were expected to review nearby surveillance footage as part of their efforts to determine what happened.
As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made.
The investigation is ongoing.
