Freezing drizzle, rain and snow expected Tuesday morning

A messy mix of light snow, rain and possible freezing drizzle could make for slippery travel conditions across parts of southern Quebec during the Tuesday morning commute before milder air moves in later in the day.

Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts periods of light snow changing to rain or drizzle through the morning, with a risk of freezing drizzle early. Temperatures are expected to climb to a mild high of plus +5 Celsius, while southwest winds strengthen to 20 km/h this afternoon.

Conditions improve Tuesday night as skies gradually clear and winds ease, though temperatures will fall sharply to a low of minus -7 C, with wind chills near minus -10 C overnight.

Sunshine returns Wednesday, becoming a mix of sun and cloud through the morning.

Winds remain light, but colder air settles in, with a high near 0 C and a morning wind chill close to minus -12 C. Clear skies continue overnight with temperatures dipping to minus -10 C.

The rest of the week stays mainly sunny but seasonably cold.

Highs hover near the freezing mark Thursday before slipping to minus -1 C Friday.

Cloudier conditions return for the weekend, bringing a 60 per cent chance of flurries Saturday and Sunday. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain just below freezing, with overnight lows between minus -6 and minus -7 C.

After Tuesday’s brief spell of mixed precipitation and milder air, more typical late-winter conditions settle back in for the remainder of the week.
