Gunshots fired at a cinema in LaSalle

Shots were fired at a cinema in the LaSalle borough on Tuesday night.

Montreal police (SPVM) were alerted around 2:30 a.m. to a firearm impact on the door of a business located on Newman Blvd., near Angrignon Blvd.

According to initial information obtained by the SPVM, a firearm projectile impact, as well as shell casings on the ground, were found at the scene.

Police reviewed surveillance footage, confirming the incident took place at 12:30 a.m., when a suspect fired at the establishment.

No 911 calls were made at that time; it was an employee who later alerted police after discovering the damage to the store’s window.

No arrests have been made yet.

Around 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday, police in Kirkland responded to a 911 call after a bullet was found lodged in the front door of a cinema on Rue Jean-Yves, near Chemin Sainte-Marie. The incident marks one of two cinemas targeted within less than 24 hours, investigators say it is too early to determine whether they are connected.
