Laval enters intervention mode as rising waters reach minor flood threshold

The City of Laval has moved into intervention mode as rapidly rising water levels reach the threshold for minor flooding, though officials say the situation remains under control for now.
Crews have secured about 1.2 kilometres of dikes along the shores of Île Laval, with installations continuing in parts of Fabreville–Sainte-Rose and Chomedey. Additional protective measures are being deployed as conditions evolve.
The city says fire prevention teams are continuing inspections while embankments are under constant monitoring, with no issues reported so far.
Officials note water levels are expected to keep rising in the coming days, prompting increased vigilance across affected areas.
Laval has also seen a slight uptick in calls to its 311 line, with residents mainly seeking information about flood preparedness. Authorities are urging people in at-risk zones to follow safety guidelines and sign up for municipal alerts to stay informed.
No significant damage or injuries have been reported.
