78-year-old woman dies after being struck by street sweeper in Boucherville

A woman has died following a collision involving a street sweeper in Boucherville on Tuesday morning, according to Longueuil Police (SPAL).

Authorities say the collision happened around 11:40 a.m. along D’Iberville Street, close to Samuel-de-Champlain Street. Officials confirmed she was crossing the street when the street sweeper hit her.

The vehicle involved was operated by a contracted service provider working for the City of Boucherville, police explained.

A security perimeter was established in the area while investigators secured the scene.

An investigation is underway to determine how the incident occurred and what factors may have contributed.

D’Iberville Street was closed between Samuel-de-Champlain and Quesnel streets, and drivers were advised to avoid the area due to traffic disruptions while police worked at the scene.
