The arrival of Christine Fréchette at the head of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) has boosted her party’s support at the expense of the Liberals, according to the latest Léger poll. The Parti Québécois, meanwhile, remains in the lead.
The poll, conducted from April 17 to 20, therefore a few days after Fréchette’s victory, indicates a rise of four percentage points for the CAQ (17 per cent) compared to the last poll by the same firm.
Charles Milliard’s Liberals, meanwhile, dropped five points to 28 per cent. The Parti Québécois remains in first place with 31 per cent.
Eric Duhaime’s conservatives gained two points (14 per cent) and the Solidarity party remained stable at 8 per cent.
The next general elections will take place next October.
The survey was conducted online with a sample of 1030 people aged 18 and over. For comparison purposes, a probability sample of this size would have a margin of error of at most ± 3.05 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
