Montreal’s EMSB celebrates National Volunteer Week with award ceremony

“We are pleased and honoured to be recognizing these distinguished individuals,” said Joe Ortona as the EMSB celebrated volunteers, a lifetime achievement recipient and a media honouree at a reception in Montreal’s Ahuntsic on Tuesday night.

The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) honoured five contributors from its school community at a special reception Tuesday evening.

Among them were three “volunteers of distinction:” Marie Di Fulvio and Claudia Musto from Gerald McShane Elementary School in Montreal North, and Leah Trineer from Roslyn Elementary School in Westmount.

Those awards coincided with National Volunteer Week.

The recipient of the EMSB’s lifetime achievement award was Angelo Komatsoulis, the EMSB’s first-ever director general.

Also honoured was CityNews Montreal reporter Pamela Pagano, who received the alumni and media award.

The event was held at St. Pius X Career Centre in Ahuntsic, where honourees, families and EMSB officials gathered for a dinner prepared by culinary students, followed by the award ceremony.
