Dozen vehicles damaged in suspected Dorval arson at used-car business

Montreal Police (SPVM) are investigating after a dozen vehicles were damaged in a suspected arson attack at a used-car business overnight in Dorval.

Emergency crews were called to the business on Chartier Ave., near 55th Ave. at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a fire in progress. They then requested assistance from the fire department.

“According to initial reports, one or more suspects broke down the front door of the business to set fire to the inside of the building and then fled before the police arrived,” explained Constable Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

A dozen vehicles that were inside were damaged, either by fire or by water from the sprinklers.

The area was secured as a crime scene, and investigators were expected to continue examining the site throughout the day.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
