Montreal police: Unlawfully at-large sex offender arrested in Ontario

By News Staff

Montreal Police (SPVM) was notified by the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) of the arrest of 66-year-old Christopher Watts last Tuesday in Hamilton, Ontario.

“He was apprehended by the Halton Regional Police Service,” they said in a news release on Thursday. “As a reminder, Christopher Watts was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the SPVM’s Sex Offender Monitoring Team (SEMT), which had been assigned to support the CSC in its investigation.”

The CSC had requested assistance from the SPVM in locating Watts after they say he violated conditions related to his supervision.

The SPVM’s Sex Offender Surveillance Team (ESDS) had been tasked with assisting CSC in its investigation and was appealing to the public for information that could help locate him.

Police said Watts was in the Montreal area when he violated the conditions of his release.
