Canadiens sign goalie Jakub Dobes to three-year extension

By Sportsnet Staff

The Montreal Canadiens have locked up their No. 1 goaltender.

Jakub Dobes and the Canadiens agreed to a three-year contract extension with an average annual value of $5,357,575, the team announced Thursday.

The extension will begin in 2027-28 and keep Dobes in Montreal through the 2029-30 season.

Dobes established himself as the Canadiens’ top man between the pipes during the team’s run to the Eastern Conference Final.

He appeared in all of Montreal’s 19 playoff games, posting a 2.66 goals-against average and .908 save percentage while picking up nine playoff wins. His nine post-season wins put him tied for third in team history among rookie netminders.

More coming.
