‘Cats in the Plateau’: New series being filmed in Montreal

Two guys from Ontario move to Montreal in hopes of living a beautiful, lavish lifestyle, but quickly end up working as garbage men and try to work their way out of that quickly by starting a gang.
That’s the way actor Robert Bazzocchi, explained the plot of the new series ‘Cats in the Plateau.’
The production is set to be a six-episode, half-hour series in French and English, filmed in Montreal.
“I think there’s a really nice homage to Montreal,” added Bazzocchi, who is playing Mitch in the show. “We have some really good French talent, and we try to showcase that as much as possible.”
When asked about what type of gang the characters create, Bazzocchi leaves us wanting to know more.
“That’s something you ought to tune in to find out,” he said, laughing.
Written and directed by Canadian actor Jared Keeso, the scenes filmed on Thursday were in Parc De Lorimier — but one might catch the team at other locations in the Plateau this summer.
“Every location that we are at is an actual location in the city,” said actor Alexander Calvert. “All the bars we’re working out of are the actual bars in the Plateau, so I think it’s always nice to see your city on camera.”
“And this time it’s not playing New York,” he added. “It’s not playing a different city. It’s actually Montreal.”
Adding to the show’s authenticity is Simon Paré-Poupart, who is known as Montreal’s most famous garbage man and author of the memoir “Trash: A Garbageman’s Story”, who is serving as the show’s Creative Consultant.
“I train the actors,” he explained. “We do like a route with the false trash, false bin.”
“And I train them to be as real as garbage men will be in Montreal.”
“I’m hoping everybody can enjoy the show,” said Bazzocchi. “And get something out of it.”
The series is set to premiere in 2027 on Crave.
