An 18-year-old man faces breaking and entering charges after he and three other teens allegedly drove a vehicle into jewelry store in Montreal’s Ahunstic-Cartierville borough Monday.
Hamsleyson Falens Theobald was charged with two offences when he appeared in court Monday
- breaking and entering with an intention to commit an indictable offence
- breaking and entering using a vehicle
If convicted Theobald could face a sentence of a maximum of 10 years. He remains in police custody.
The three other teens under 18 years of age were released and are expected to appear in youth court at a future date.
Theobald’s charges come after he along with three other suspects allegedly drove an SUV into a jewelry store in the early hours of July 6, in what police described at the time as an unsuccessful robbery attempt.
The suspects then reportedly abandoned the SUV inside the jewelry store before fleeing in a getaway car.
Police officers who arrived at the scene then intercepted a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses and arrested all four teens.
