St-Hubert restaurant in Montreal’s Village to close after 50 years

St-Hubert on Montreal’s Village neighbourhood is shutting its doors in September after 50 years in operation due to municipal road work.
The popular rotisserie chicken restaurant has been at the Sainte-Catherine Street E. location since 1977.
Marie-Eve Gaudreau, spokesperson for Groupe St-Hubert, said the company made the decision based on the business outlook in the area where the street is scheduled to undergo a major reconstruction over the next five years.
“While the restaurant benefits from a strategic location appreciated by many Montrealers, major infrastructure work undertaken by the City as part of a neighborhood revitalization project has had a significant impact on accessibility, customer traffic, and restaurant sales,” she added.
Nearly 60 jobs are expected to be affected by the closure. The company says it will offer affected employees the option of transfer to a different St-Hubert location.
The Village rotisserie will cease operations at closing time on Sept. 6.
