Pilot of small aircraft dies after a crash in Victoriaville, Que.

The pilot of a small aircraft died Monday evening following a plane crash in Victoriaville, in the Centre-du-Québec region.

Emergency services were called to Route de l’Aéroport around 6:30 p.m. regarding the incident.

The aircraft reportedly caught fire after crashing, according to Louis-Philippe Ruel, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Emergency responders found the pilot inside the aircraft when they arrived and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

SQ has not released any details about the pilot or its flight plan.

SQ officers will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances of this incident, in collaboration with the Transportation Safety Board (TSB).

The TSB confirmed that it has deployed a team of investigators to the site of the crash.
