Montreal police investigating gunshot fired in Saint-Leonard overnight

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a gunshot woke several residents in Saint-Leonard borough overnight.

SPVM received a 911 call shortly before 1 a.m. reporting a gunshot being heard near the intersection of Liénart and La Dauversière streets.

When officers arrived, they did not find any victims or suspect. However, they located a shell casing on the ground.

“According to initial reports, the gunshot may possibly have been fired from a moving vehicle that fled the scene before police arrived,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

A security perimeter has been set up in the area to examine the scene. Investigators will also review surveillance camera footage from the area.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
