Toddler out of danger after being struck by car in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent

A 17-year-old driver struck a stroller carrying a 20-month-old baby on Thursday evening in Montreal. The toddler had to be hospitalized, but the toddler’s life is not in danger.
The collision occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Montpellier Boulevard, near Muir Street, in the Saint-Laurent borough.
“Shortly after the intersection with Muir Street, the toddler’s mother and aunt were reportedly crossing the street at a crosswalk with the child in a stroller. That’s when the vehicle reportedly struck the stroller,” explained Johany Charland, spokesperson for the Montreal police (SPVM).
The toddler sustained serious injuries to the upper body but was breathing and conscious when police arrived and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that his life was not in danger.
The 17-year-old driver involved in the accident was treated by paramedics for nervous shock. He was not physically injured.
An investigation is underway to determine the causes and circumstances of the collision, locate witnesses, and identify surveillance cameras.
