Young driver dead after crashing into truck in Quebec’s Montérégie

A young driver lost his life late Monday afternoon after crashing into a heavy truck in Sainte-Martine, in Montérégie.

The collision occurred around 4 p.m. on Route 138, also known as Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard, according to Marc Tessier, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

According to initial reports, the vehicle veered out of its lane on a curve before colliding with the heavy truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The truck then crashed into a residence.

The young man in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver and the sole occupant of the residence were uninjured.

Route 138 was closed in both directions to allow police to investigate the scene and determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.
