To mark International Youth Day, the Interjeunes Coalition kicked off its youth mobilization tour, known as “Pas de politique jeunesse sans les jeunes” in French, on Wednesday in front of the offices of the organization Dans la rue in Montreal.
With the election campaign set to begin imminently, young people want political parties to listen to the issues that particularly affect them and ensure that these issues are included in the platforms to be presented to the public over the coming weeks.
To raise greater awareness of these issues, the campaign tour will travel to Quebec City and another city to be determined before Election Day on Oct. 5.
This initiative has four objectives: to place young people’s priorities at the heart of the public debate; to foster direct dialogue between young people and candidates; to remind everyone that there can be no youth policy without the genuine participation of young people; and to keep youth issues at the forefront throughout the campaign.
The idea for this tour emerged from the Grande Consultation Jeunesse (GJC), conducted in April by the Coalition Interjeunes, a coalition of more than 450 independent youth community action organizations across the province’s 17 regions.
